Seeing Green: EBCI plans recreational cannabis work session before dispensary opens – WLOS

QUALLA BOUNDARY, N.C. (WLOS) — A recreational cannabis program is still being considered by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

During Thursday morning’s Tribal Council meeting, members set a recreation cannabis work session for 9 a.m. April 18, 2024. That’s just two days before the tribe plans to open its Great Smoky Cannabis Co. medical cannabis dispensary at 91 Bingo Loop on the Boundary.

When the dispensary opens April 20, 2024, you’ll need one of several accepted medical cards to make purchases, plus be at least 21 years of age or older.

On Thursday, the council was still finalizing a management and rental agreement for the venture.
