NW DC dispensary employee fatally shot during armed robbery; suspects wanted – WJLA

WASHINGTON (7News) — An employee of a Northwest D.C. marijuana dispensary was shot and killed during an armed robbery on Wednesday, March 27, according to Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officials.

Around 2:57 p.m., two people showed handguns as they entered the dispensary in the 5100 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. The two people demanded property and money, according to officials.

During the robbery, one of the people fired shots, hitting an employee before taking money and fleeing the scene, officials said.

The employee – identified as Philip Prendergast, 41, of Silver Spring – was taken to a hospital where he later died, according to officials.
