Referencing Robert Taylor’s Letter to the Editor on Oct. 18, “Johnson wrong about marijuana usage,” it is Mr. Taylor who is wrong about the statements and sentiments he attributed to me.
I never stated to any news outlet that “everyone has tried marijuana” because I have never tried marijuana.
I did say that, “If most of us were really honest with ourselves, if we got caught for some of the stupid things that we did, we would not be where we are right now,” and we should not act like “we have never done anything wrong, because we all have.”
Further, I never proferred the idea about this ordinance, if adopted, would help in any way with the war on drugs. It is an honest attempt to address social justice issues and unclog log jams in our criminal justice system.
It is important, for the sake of this discussion and my proposal to the Savannah City Council, to keep the issues where they are. Marijuana is illegal in Georgia and will continue to be unless the Georgia General Assembly decides
